It's been a very busy week designing this ring, hitting a few dead ends and having to get used to be decisive on design directions as this project is so short! In my last post I mentioned the possibility of using laser sintering and laser welding, through design development I have found a way to incorporate both of these technologies into my design. In order to get an idea of what the flower could look like I started to develop more using CAD software, specifically Rhino and ArtCAM as I can get more detail and control with these two. Next on the list is to get a model of the flower ready that can get laser sintered in Nylon over the Christmas break ready for testing before the real thing is printed and assembled.
