I was first introduced to Laser sintering on a visit to Digits2Widgets at the end of last year and i was instantly fascinated as to what you could produce with this type of 3D Printing in Nylon. I firstly created my 'Full Bloom Ring' (seen here on the DFI page of my portfolio). I was able to explore how I could incorporate my inspiration from nature into this modern technology.
Having caught the 3D Printing bug I knew that for my final collection at the School of Jewellery I knew that I wanted to explore this technology further. Hand dyeing the Nylon parts is relatively new and not very common so I saw a gap in the market and decided to act upon it. This resulted in the development of the concept of interchangeable jewellery which has seen an increasing demand over the past few years in the jewellery trade. I decided to design rings as they are the easiest to make a statement with and what more could you want than one ring with an endless amount of shape, size and colour options for you to choose from to put onto that ring?
After hours of CAD (computer aided design) and plenty of tests later I am proud to share with you a snippet of my journey to how I got to where I am now with my collection.
